Yesterday as we had just finished giving Nadia her bath in the heated bathroom, we were drying her off and moved from the bathroom to the bedroom to put her clothes on her - she said, "COLD!" Yes, seriously - she said her first word, in context, without prompting - she's a genius! It was precious and we were both there to hear it or I'm sure Andy wouldn't believe me. :) I knew that book we read on opposites was sinking in! j/k... we haven't heard any more words since then or really even many sounds other than grunts, so we're documenting this as her first official word but plan to celebrate the rest later too!
She's the world's most delayed burper. We try to burb her after each feeding, even half way through, but she won't burp. However, 20 minutes later, she'll let out a great big burp. If we've already put her down, she'll cry and arch her back until you come burp her. At least we've figured out the pattern, but this is causing some stress in the night as she'll be sound asleep and then gets all woken up again at the 20 minute delayed burp time which means more trying to rock, sway, etc her back to sleep and then ever so gently lay her down again. We also think she's having a growth spurt as she's been eating every hour to hour and a half for the last 15 hours - but we know this too shall pass! In the meantime we just cherish every minute, day or night, playing, sleeping or feeding.
