Life as a One Year Old

Having a tea party!
Would anyone like a cake?

Thursday we went to the Exchange Club County Fair. She had a big time looking at the lights, riding several rides and watching the crowd. Here she is riding the ferris wheel.

Watching the circus with tigers, dogs, minature ponies, a camel and alpacas.

Exiting the house of mirrors down the twisty slide.

In the house of mirrors

Riding the Carousel - it was her least favorite. She wasn't so sure about going up and down on the horse.

In the livestock exhibit - goats
and cows!

Riding the train - her favorite thing!

She went on the big slide with Daddy and came down all smiles!

Playing with Ivy and Phoebe at our Birthday party with them. They had a great time in the inflatable.

Playing in the pantry. She figured out how to get the safety lock off. I was standing right there, but decided to let her play and see what she'd do. She spent 15 minutes taking the poptarts out of the box, putting them back in, taking them out again, and putting them back in.

This was a ball that popped and made for a great wig!

Hanging out at the park on a beautiful fall day!

1 Year Check-Up

Nadia is doing great! She weighs 21 lbs which is in the 70%ile (She's slimming down with all this activity!). She is 30 1/2 inches long which is in the 75%ile. Her head is 18 inches which is 75%ile. She got three shots.

This afternoon at lunch we played a game where I made a letter sound and she would mimic it. She was totally into the game and could mimic all of the following sounds - a, b, c, d, g, l, m, n, p, s, t! I thought that was a lot of sounds for such a little person.

Tonight we're going to the fair. Pics to come soon!

Nadia's Very Hungry Caterpillar 1st Birthday!

Nadia is ONE! Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!Nadia and Buster Bear in their Very Hungry Caterpillar outfits ready for the party! The invitation
Opening her Singamajig on her actual birthday. She loved it!

Nadia's Party (one day late) - The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

Each placemat was unique and featured one thing from the book that the caterpillar ate.

I made party hats for all - the girls had ruffles and the guys didn't.

The Beautiful Butterfly Take Home Favors (sugar cookies with stained glass cut outs)

The salad - nice green leaves with apples, pears, oranges and a little egg laying on the leaf!

Butterflies and streamers

Huggin on Gamma and Auntie Steph

Nadia in her "1" Bib

The caterpillar cake - Green velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing
Singing and Blowing out the candle!

The 1st bite!

It took her a few minutes to decide what to do with this giant cake in front of her.

She decided to share some with Granddaddy!

Then I gave her a fork, and she started actually eating it! (She's such a neat girl.... well momentarily anyway!)

Happy Birthday Sweet Nadia! What an amazing, joy-filled year it has been!

Feeding Mama some cake

Now she is getting into it!

Things are really getting messy and she's chowing down!

Using the fork again!

She ate a good bit of it before she started throwing it down (good thing there was a sheet over the carpet! Not sure how that pink icing would have looked on white carpet long-term.)

Heading to the bath tub to get clean! She saw herself in the mirror and started laughing!

Opening presents! She got into it and did most of the opening herself!

She played with this box and was determined to get the paper back inside to clean up. (If only we could convince her to put her toys away as much as she wanted to clean up this paper!)

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Present topper Nana made.

Playing with her caterpillar with Dada

Nana made the most amazing Very Hungry Caterpillar puppet - complete with everything that he eats - the apple, pears, plums, strawberries, oranges, junk on Saturday, the leaf... then he turns inside out to be inside the coccoon and finally....

he becomes a beautiful butterfly! It is the coolest puppet I've ever seen and Nadia is mesmerized! We've done it several times and Nadia just squeals in delight as the caterpillar eats everything in sight. She's even put the puppet on her arm and made him come alive!

Thanks for such a special gift Nana!

Getting a little help from Daddy opening presents

Playing ball with Miss Sarahbeth. Nadia loves her so much and as soon as she arrived, she started getting out toys for them to play with together - a great sign of the fun they have!

Riding her new train from Gamma and Poppa - it makes many fun sounds and has lots of buttons to push! She can get on it all by herself.

Giving Great Grandmother and Great Papa a kiss good-bye

Bye Miss Sarahbeth

Eating her lollipop (like the caterpillar) from the top of her second package from Granddaddy and Nana. She was sucking on it through the wrapper and bit through the plastic until she was actually getting the sweet part... yummy!

Eating her first ice cream cone - Nana gave her a bite and she wound up eating the whole thing and some of another one. She loved it!

Posing with Auntie Al, Uncle Jor and Mommy

There was soooo much excitment with everyone coming and all the decorations and food that Nadia was a bit off her regular schedule (okay, a lot off). She had gone to bed Friday night at 11:00 because there was just too much action going on to sleep before that. Then she got up at 7 AM Saturday and missed both her morning and afternoon naps because of the party. Finally at 5 PM, she was playing away as we all sat in the living room talking and she just laid her head down on the magnadoodle and instantly fell asleep! I scooped her up and put her in the bed, where she power -napped for 30 minutes, woke back up and partied some more until 9:00 last night. No doubt, she loved all the attention, people and excitement and had a great day celebrating!

Wearing her new bookbag and playing with Auntie Al after the party. She loved all the "baboons"!

Laughing with Uncle Jor

Happy Birthday Baby Girl! We love you!
