Family Reunion

Nadia's great-great grandparents had 15 children, 9 of whom lived into adulthood. Each year on Thanksgiving, this extended family gets together to celebrate. It's been a part of our tradition as long as I've been alive and I'm sure even before. Gran had figured up that there are about 120 members in this family with about 110 of them still living. There was a very important person missing this year as it was our first Thanksgiving without Gran, but Uncle Dicky had put together a video of her speaking from the past three Thanksgivings reminding us all that we are a unique family to get together and care about one another in such an extended family way. She challenged the group to continue getting together as long as there are at least two members. As the newest member of the family, Nadia was introduced to all and held by many. Aunt Jeannie - these pics are especially for you as we missed you much and want you to see the pics.

The Most Thankful Thanksgiving

The only time she slept in her pack and play on our trip. She much preferred to be snuggled right in between us in the big bed so that she could touch us on both sides. Who wouldn't think that was a better place to snooze?

Nadia is doing so many new things! She is smiling responsively all the time. She is making all kinds of sounds and pre-speech noises. She constantly holds her head up at all times unless she's sleeping. She will play for longer periods of time and has pretty much settled into a consistent sleeping, eating and awake time routine.

She's had a lot of firsts including her first time in the church nursery, first road trip to Atlanta, first hotel stay, first conference with Mommy and Daddy's work, first Thanksgiving, first family reunion, first trip to Gamma and Papa's and today is going to Nana and Granddaddy's for the first time. She's a great traveler and has wooed crowds all over with her beauty and amazing baby-ness!

We could never have imagines such great love for her. We are so incredibly grateful for her and all of the joy she brings to our lives. What a thankful thanksgiving!

One Month Birthday!

Nadia is one month old today! It's so hard to believe that she's already been in our lives for a whole month - the time has flown by! It's been the best month ever!

Pictures from our shower yesterday. We had a great time hanging out with the Tugman Sunday School class members - most of whom work in the Children's Ministry, so they aren't usually with their adult class. Stacy and Pam were the hostesses and had made all kinds of fancy party food including a cake with blocks for Nadia.

Nadia's umbilical cord fell off completely today, so she'll get her first real bath tonight! She's become very regular with her patterns for eating and sleeping - so I guess you could call that a routine. We still do everything as she demands it, so I wouldn't call it a schedule, but we definitely have a routine. Today we received our last meal from generous church members and friends who have brought meals for her entire first month of life! I guess tomorrow we'll eat left-overs and then it's back to the real world where meals don't magically appear on your door step every day.

Growing up too fast!

Last night Nadia's tear ducts opened, so now she cries with tears! Also last night Nadia went to sleep on her own in her bed for the first time without being rocked or fed, so I cried because she didn't need me! I know self-sufficiency is the goal of parenting, but does she really have to already be making progress in this? It's happening too quickly! This afternoon she accidently rolled over by herself from her tummy to her back! I couldn't believe it. I had just rolled her over to her tummy for some tummy time and looked away when as quick as I looked back she had flipped herself back over. I think I hadn't fully pulled her arm out of the way, so that gave her some extra leverage, but this girl is amazing!
